About Us

Our primary mission is to develop ethical and secure digital tools that understand human complexity to improve performance, productivity, and health. We apply scientific principles and practices to understand the real-world problem and generate a solution that works. We do this by developing tools that are intelligent enough to comprehend and measure the experience and behaviour of the user and adapt accordingly to optimize outcomes in real time. Our understanding of human behaviour through data (e.g. eye tracking), and our deep understanding of how to analyse and interpret these data is what makes this possible.

Since our establishment in 2016, we have been dedicated to creating immersive simulations (with a focus on VR) that lead to improved outcomes in training and therapy. We have cultivated a culture of innovation and evidence-based practice, earning global recognition as leaders in our field. Our work has already had a significant impact on several sectors, including health, aviation, the military and policing, and nuclear. But our vision is for our tools and techniques to have a much wider impact, by becoming ubiquitous and augmenting and optimising every occasion when a human interacts with a digital device or system.

The Opportunity

With XR and spatial computing experiences becoming increasingly prevalent in training, healthcare, entertainment, and everyday life, there is a growing demand for adaptive and personalized forms of XR tailored to individuals and specific contexts. But, adaptive and personalised forms of XR are extremely difficult to realise, as they rely on several technically challenging factors.

(1) complex combinations of human data to measure the user's experience in real-time

(2) advanced and artificially intelligent data analytics to extract meaning from the data; and

(3) computationally heavy adaptation engines that can deliver personalisation to the end user through virtual environments or digital tools.

Cineon has spent the past 5 years developing solutions to these problems, making progress on all three fronts, and synthesizing these parts into our flagship product PAVE.

Psych Adaptive Virtual Environments (PAVE)

6 (2)

PAVE exploits eye tracking data (and other physiological and behavioural data) enabling us to (1) assess an individual’s expertise or skill level in a given task, (2) estimate an individual’s psychological state or behaviour, and (3) visualise and implement these data in real-time within a virtual or digital environment. The eye-tracking hardware is now embedded in a growing number of XR headsets, enabling us to add our own software architecture to put these valuable data to good use. The outcome is software, enabled by eye tracking hardware, that significantly boosts the use case for XR applications in therapy, training, gaming, and entertainment.

Professional Services

Since its foundation, Cineon has operated as a successful consultancy across a range of safety-critical sectors. We have developed specific consultancy offerings based on the skills and capabilities of our growing team.

XR Development

Our in-house team of developers can simulate any real-world task in a virtual environment with a high degree of fidelity.

Data Science

We have a dedicated team of data scientists with specific expertise in human data, deep learning, and conventional statistics.

XR implementation

Cineon has a strong track record of implementing digital and XR tools into practice, within sectors such as nuclear, aviation, health and education. This capability comes from a deep understanding of human performance and behavior in these settings, and a commitment to science and research in the fields of psychology, human factors and pedagogy.
